Job opening in Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research (CPR) at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Copenhagen.
The centre comprise a range of expertise and skills, including in silico
target identification, proteomics, high throughput protein production,
chemical biology, disease biology, protein therapeutics and protein
drug delivery and bioinformatics.
Job Description:
• To develop, implement and improve bioinformatics methods and
prediction tools for the analysis and modification of protein sequences
for recombinant expression.
Work will be dedicated to human proteins of
medical relevance, in particular difficult to express proteins and less
explored proteins and protein families. Tasks will e.g. include protein
sequence analysis, phylogeny analysis, prediction of domain boundaries,
design of sequence modifications to increase recombinant expression and
design of linkers.
• To perform protein modeling and develop prediction tools to assist
the research efforts on structure-function relationship and
biochemistry of the protein families studied at the center. Tasks will
include prediction and design of protein modifications to modulate
biochemical properties and biological activity.
• To demonstrate international reputation through scientific publications and presentations at international symposia.
Experience/ Qualifications required
• Documented expertise in bioinformatics and protein modeling.
• Documented experience in computer programming for the analysis of biological sequences.
• Experience with protein design for recombinant expression in E. coli and eukaryotic cells, including site-directed deletion/mutations and fusion protein strategies.
• Good scientific publication record and technology and methodology development record.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Integrity, enthusiasm, motivation, flexibility, confidence and outstanding collaboration skills.
• Experience with protein structure determination or protein molecular evaluation is an advantage.
• A PhD in Bioinformatics, Protein Chemistry, Biophysics or other relevant area is required.
